About this site

The Best Country Under the Sun is a documentary film and a historical and genealogical research project on the Irish emigration to Argentina. This policy explains what personal data the site shows and collects, why, and how you can ask us to change or remove it.

Who is responsible for your data

The site and the personal data it collects are the responsibility of Lahaye Digital Solutions Post SRL (CUIT 30-70916957-9), the production company of The Best Country Under the Sun, with its address at Gutenberg 3872, 2nd floor, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Historical and genealogical research

Our pages about the Kilrane Boys include biographies and family trees of people from the past, built from historical records, published sources and information shared with us by descendants. We publish this material for historical, cultural and educational purposes. The same research also informs the documentary film, a commercial production that will be publicly released and broadcast.

Living people on this site

The only living people whose names appear on this site are those who have agreed to it:

Friends of the Film and supporters. Having your name featured on the website is one of the benefits described on our Friends of the Film page, so we list contributors by name to thank them. If you would rather not be listed, just let us know.

People who share information with us. When someone contributes to our research, we ask for their permission by email before publishing their name or anything about them, on this site or in the documentary film.

If you appear on the site and would like the information about you to be corrected or removed, or if you think something about you or your family was published by mistake, please send us a request using the form below.

Information you send us

When you write to us by email or through one of our forms, we receive your name, your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you and, if you share your family's story, for our research. Form messages are delivered to our inbox through Resend, an email service.

Donations are processed by PayPal, Payway or your bank; we never see or store your card details. We receive your name and the amount of your contribution.

How long we keep your data

We keep your messages and donation records only for as long as we need them to reply to you, to thank you, for our research and to meet our accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete them at any time, except where the law requires us to keep them.

What we don't do

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing, and the site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, in line with the data protection laws that apply, such as Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law No. 25,326 and, for people in the European Union, the GDPR. We will reply to your request as soon as possible.

Notice required by Argentine law: you may access your personal data free of charge at intervals of no less than six months. The Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) handles complaints about breaches of data protection rules.

La AGENCIA DE ACCESO A LA INFORMACIÓN PÚBLICA, en su carácter de Órgano de Control de la Ley Nº 25.326, tiene la atribución de atender las denuncias y reclamos que interpongan quienes resulten afectados en sus derechos por incumplimiento de las normas vigentes en materia de protección de datos personales.
